Bangladesh-India Relations Deeper Than Any Other Strategic Partnership: Shringla

Indian Foreign Minister Harsh Vardhan Shringla has stated that relations between Bangladesh and India today are stronger than other strategic partnership , and is an "role as a model" for the relationship between two countries.

"Contemporary relations between India and Bangladesh have taken significant steps forward, in particular in the last few years...two important elements that are the foundation of Indian diplomacy -the Neighbourhood first and Act East Policies -- are reflected in India's lively relations that it has with Bangladesh," he said according to BSS.

Shringla The Former Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh delivered the remarks during the Swarnim Vijay Varsh Conclave: 2021 on "Humanitarian, Diplomatic and Political Aspects that arose from 1971" 1971 War" on Saturday.

He added that the spirit of understanding, friendship and mutual respect that was cultivated in the aftermath of the freedom of Bangladesh continues to permeate all aspects of the relationship.

India and Bangladesh have a common "Sonali Adhyay golden era under the government of Premier Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to bring peace and stability to the people both the sides from the frontier, the official said.

"Realizing fully the benefits of the partnership will require a constant convergence of economic, strategic and political views for both sides, just like it was 50 years ago." He added.

Shringla noted that this year's celebrations are of particular significance to the relationship between India and Bangladesh since it commemorates this year the Golden Jubilee of the Liberation War of Bangladesh as well as the centennial anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and fifty years of the diplomatic relations.

"India-Bangladesh relations in the present are in many ways an extension of the events that shaped the course of history 50 years ago. Muktijoddhas continue to serve as a bridge connecting the two nations," he added.

Foreign Secretary Shringla has praised the Indian Air Force saying the IAF played an important part in assisting the spirited battle of "Mukti Bahini" (freedom fighters). "1971 was an uprising for justice over oppressive tyranny. It was a search for hope in the midst despair, and a moment of catharsis by Dharmayudh," he added.
